Having a little bit shorter distance to cover, this group arrived first and built a pile of trash at the entrance to Creekside Park where the city could easily reach it for pickup

The other group, starting at Sleeper Park, arrived a little later - hence the separate pictures. They left much of their trash by cans along the way, to the pile didn't grow as much as you might have thought.
Rather than carry heavy bags all the way to the end, some bags were left along the way for City Parks folks to pick up.
A large construction material wrapper served as a tarp to transport multiple bags full of trash.

Thank you to Jim and Rashi for the idea of having this cleanup, rounding up the volunteers using NextDoor, coming up with a plan, and then bringin all the resources to make it happen! Additionally, some other large trash deposits were identified and relayed to City staff for subsequent removal.
On Sunday, January 9th, 20 volunteers cleaned up 5 miles of Stevens Creek Trail. Split into 2 groups with one starting at the Sleeper Park trailhead and working northward and the other starting at the La Avenida trailhead and working southward, they met in the middle at Creekside Park. A significant number of bottles, soda cans, wrappers, and even two tires were removed because of the groups’ efforts. The cleanup was organized through NextDoor by Rashi Jindal, and co-coordinated with the Friends of Stevens Creek Trail, the Mountain View Fire & Environmental Protection department, and the Mountain View Parks & Rec department.
